Youth Leadership and Empowerment
“Nothing about us without us” is what teens tell us. We are engaging our schools and students through support for school- and community-based youth action groups, mentoring, and Franklin County Teen Institute.
Franklin County Teen Institute is a youth leadership program that equips high school students with the skills, knowledge, support, and passion to make positive changes in their schools and communities. Teen Institute students and their advisers come together for a week in the summer to learn about health, wellness, and each other. Then they spend the year working to improve their schools and communities through a variety of student-led activities ranging from peer education on substance abuse prevention to peer support in overall physical and mental wellness.
Check back in January for details on the next Teen Institute happening in Summer 2020!
Caring Communities works with community partners to identify and implement strategies to prevent and reduce substance abuse, especially among youth and young adults, and equip individuals, families, and the community at large to create healthy, substance-free environments where everyone can thrive.
