On January 22, MENTOR Vermont hosted nearly 200 youth mentees, volunteer mentors, and mentoring supporters from around the state for the annual Youth Mentoring Celebration at the Statehouse in Montpelier. This free event marked the culmination of National Mentoring Month festivities in Vermont, and featured: The signing of a Mentoring Month proclamation by Governor Phil Scott; A presentation of the 2020 Ambassadors of Mentoring Awards by Comcast; And the reading of a Mentoring Day resolution and recognition on the House floor led by Representative Kate Webb.

Youth and their mentors participated in many fun activities such as, button making, a photo booth, and open mic time to talk about why mentoring was important to them! They also had the opportunity to have lunch with their local state legislators!

Mentor/Mentee pair David and AJ represented Watershed Mentoring at the 6th annual Vermont Youth Mentoring Celebration. Nearly 200 mentees, volunteer mentors, supporters, and legislators from around the state were in attendance. This celebration takes place every January to celebrate National Mentoring Month and to highlight youth mentoring programs around the state. Franklin County Representatives Felisha Leffler and James Gregoire joined us to learn about the work of Watershed Mentoring. AJ also got to meet Gov. Phil Scott!

Thanks AJ and David for representing the benefits and impacts of mentoring!
